Natural Gas Transmission Infrastructure in Gujarat
Industrial Development
Gujarat is one of the highly industrialized states in India. Looking on to the sharp rise in gas availability on account of exploration and development of LNG terminals, a well-developed natural gas transportation infrastructure was required to serve various industrial belts of the state.
The Gas Transmission Business of erstwhile Gujarat State Petronet Limited has been demerged into GSPL Transmission Limited, pursuant to the Order of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) granting its approval to the Composite Scheme of Arrangement with effect from 1st May 2026. From 1st May 2026, Gujarat State Petronet Limited has ceased to exist. As per the Composite Scheme, GTL is in the process of getting listed on BSE and NSE.
Network & Operations
GTL has the primary objective to connect various supply sources and users of natural gas in Gujarat through gas pipeline network.
GTL operated a medium-to-high pressure natural gas transmission grid comprising approximately 2878 kms (as on 31st March 2026) of pipeline network.
Corporate Information
GSPL Transmission Limited was incorporated on 23rd July, 2024 under the Companies Act, 2013, company registered with Registrar of Companies, Ahmedabad.
The Corporate Identity Number of GTL is U49300GJ2024SGC153672.
GTL is engaged in the business of transmission of natural gas through pipeline on an open access basis from supply points to demand centers. The registered office of GTL is situated at GSPC Bhavan, Behind Udhyog Bhavan, Sector-11, Gandhinagar, Gujarat-382010.
Composite Scheme of Amalgamation and Arrangement
Pursuant to the Composite Scheme of Amalgamation and Arrangement amongst Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation Limited (“GSPC”), Gujarat State Petronet Limited (GSPL), GSPC Energy Limited (“GEL”), Gujarat Gas Limited (“GGL”), and GSPL Transmission Limited(“GTL”) coming into effect, the entire Undertaking of the Gujarat State Petronet Limited, pursuant to the sanction of the Scheme by the MCA and pursuant to the provisions of Section 230 to 232 and other applicable provisions of the Act, has stood transferred to and vested in the GSPL Transmission Limited, as a going concern, without any further act, deed, instrument, matter so as to become, as and from the Amalgamation appointed date, the Undertaking of the GSPL Transmission Limited (GTL) by virtue of and in the manner provided in the Scheme.
